A Tribute To A Wonderful Woman - My Aunt
I held your hand in mine
As I watched the last drops of life
Peacefully drain from your fingertips.
Your time had finally come.
The angels came to take you away,
Heaven was calling out your name.
Now that's where you belong
Looking down on those who love you.
As you entered the next part of life
I felt your soft kiss on my cheek.
I know you'll always be there for me,
You're not so far away.
You were a remarkable woman,
You are loved by all who have met you.
You'll always be remembered here
We'll keep you alive for generations to come.
You set a shining example
- How can we possibly follow on from you?
We have a lot to live up to.
You're always in our hearts. It's time to say farewell.
I kiss your forehead oh so softly.
I shall miss you until my time has come.
Until then, sweet dreams auntie, take care.
God bless you.

She was such a sport

Guess who?

TOUCHING SHOULDERS
There's a comforting thought at the close of the day
When I'm weary and lonely and sad
That sort of grips hold of this poor old heart
And bids it be merry and glad.
It gets in my being, and drives out the blues
And finally thrills through and through,
It's just a sweet memory, that chants this refrain,
"I'm glad I touched shoulders with you."
Did you know you were brave ?
Did you know you were strong ?
Did you know there was one leaning hard ?
Did you know that I waited, and listened and prayed ?
And was cheered by your simplest word.
Did you know that I longed for the smile on your face ?
For the sound of your voice ringing true,
Did you know I grew stronger and better because
"I had merely touched shoulders with you ".
I'm glad that I live, that I battle and strive,
For a place that I know I must fill,
I'm thankful for sorrows, I'll meet with a grin
What fortune may bring, good or ill,
I may not have wealth, I may not be great
But I know I will always be true,
For I have in my life, that courage you gave,
When once, I touched shoulders with you !"

WORDS
BE WATCHFUL MY DARLING OF YOUR WORDS
FOR WORDS ARE WONDERFUL THINGS
SWEET LIKE THE BEES SWEET HONEY
SHARP LIKE THE BEE'S TERRIBLE STING
KEEP THEM BACK IF THEY'RE COLD AND CRUEL
BEHIND BAR, LOCK AND SEAL
FOR THE WOUNDS THEY MAKE
ARE NOT SO EASY TO HEAL.............

(The below song was given and sung to my auntie
when she was a young girl by a special suitor)

THE VERY THOUGHT OF YOU
The very thought of you
And I forget to do
The little ordinary things
That everyone ought to do
I'm living in a kind of daydream
I'm happy as a king
And foolish though it may seem
To me that's everything
The mere idea of you
The longing here for you
You'll never know how slow the moments go
'Till I'm near to you
I see your face in every flower
Your eyes in stars above
It's just that thought of you
The very thought of you, my love
The mere idea of you
The longing here for you
You'll never know how slow the moments go
'Till I'm near to you
I see your face in every flower
Your eyes in stars above
It's just that thought of you
The very thought of you, my love
